University support. A clearer next step.
From a long brief to a manageable plan.
A clear plan reduces the risk of working hard on the wrong thing. Start with the instructions, not with the first paragraph.
A little clarity goes a long way
Here’s what to know
Translate the brief into a checklist
Identify the action words: explain, compare, evaluate, calculate or design. Record the required format, word limit, sources, deadline and submission method. Turn each marking criterion into something you can check in your finished work.
Separate what you know from what you need
List the concepts, evidence and methods you already have. Mark uncertainties and ask your instructor early when the brief is ambiguous. If requesting support, share the exact question and what you have tried.
Work backwards from the deadline
Leave time for checking and submission. Before that, reserve time for a complete draft or solution, and before that for research and an outline. Use small deliverables, such as “find evidence for the comparison,” instead of “work on assignment.”
Check understanding and attribution
Verify that each section answers the question and that you can explain your method. Follow the course’s citation and outside-assistance rules. Check calculations, references and file format before submitting.
